Reflecting on Rail Live 2024
Last week, the Machines With Vision team were out in force taking part in Rail Live 2024, the UK’s largest outdoor rail event. Giulia Chironna, Business Development Manager at Machines With Vision, reflects on how this year went and why Rail Live is a key event in the annual rail calendar:
“We are happy with how Rail Live turned out as we were present at not just one but two stands - our own and Network Rail's Class 153 stand. At both locations we provided live demos of our newest product, the Fault Navigator app. We also established great conversations with potential customers and partners, as well as continuing well-established relationships from our ongoing projects.
“As a rail technology start-up, we spent our initial years focusing on developing our solutions to the highest standard. We viewed this year's Rail Live as the perfect opportunity to highlight what we've been working on, answer questions and demonstrate our technology.
“We were also honoured to be invited by Network Rail to be present at their stand beside the Class 153 train from the IM fleet, for which our sensors have been providing accurate location.
“Thematically speaking there was so much to take away from across the two days, however track worker safety was a recurring theme. We take this very seriously at Machines With Vision and this is something that we kept at the forefront of our minds when developing Fault Navigator. This was further exemplified during stand visits from track maintenance engineers, who were impressed with what we showed them. Looking ahead, we are excited to be able to contribute to such an important industry priority.
“Rail Live is all about cross-industry collaboration. The reality is that if you are a specialist in the industry, you cannot be the best at everything. Collaboration is key when providing a five-star service and as we specialise in positioning, there are many suppliers that specialise in something else out there that would further benefit from a partnership with us and vice versa.”
